Raw material
We make our metal powder using chemical reduction and this has a targeted influence on the morphology of the material. The result is particularly homogeneous and highly pure powders for particularly homogeneous and highly pure metals.
Mixing alloying
One of our core competences is the production of extremely high-performance alloys. Their quality comes from the homogeneous distribution of individual alloying components, among other things.
Pressing
We compress our metal powder and metal powder mixtures into a so-called green compact. For final products with especially difficult geometries, we then press the green compact into the corresponding final shape.
Sintering
Sintering is the key technological step in powder metallurgy. The green compact is heated in a sintering furnace in a protective gas atmosphere. This makes the powder grains coalesce, resulting in a sinter block with a low porosity.
Forming
We form the sinter blocks into a highly durable semi-finished product using the world's largest forming equipment for refractory metals. The density and mechanical strength of our materials increase with an increasing degree of forming.
Heat treatment
Using heat treatment, we balance out the mechanical stress, influence the material properties as well as ensure that the metals are easy to process later on.
Mechanical processing
Whether turning, milling, grinding, cutting, joining, coating, or enriching – we perform all common processing steps in-house. This is the only way we can ensure that you get the very best quality.
Quality assurance
At Gemei, we were early adopters of a quality, safety, and environmental management system. All employees are obligated to optimize the quality of our products and services via documented process improvements, guarantee the safety and health of our employees as well as prudently use raw materials and energy.
