Radiotherapy and Diagnostic Equipment:

Radiation Therapy Collimators
Function: Precisely control the shape of X/γ ray beams through the multi-leaf structure (MLC) of tungsten blocks to protect healthy tissues.
Advantages:

  • High density (19.25 g/cm³) provides shielding efficiency far exceeding that of lead (11.34 g/cm³).

  • Non-toxic, eliminating the risk of lead contamination (compliant with RoHS standards).

Typical Products: Varian's TrueBeam® system uses nanocrystalline tungsten collimator leaves with a precision of ±0.5mm.


CT/X-ray Shielding Components

Applications: Protective covers, partitions, and windows (e.g., tungsten filters in mammography machines).

Innovative Designs: Tungsten-epoxy composite materials (density 9-12 g/cm³), which can be injection-molded into complex structures.


Medical Imaging Equipment

X-ray Tube Targets
Function: Electron bombardment of molybdenum targets generates characteristic X-rays (17.5keV) for mammography.
Advantage: Low atomic number (Z=42) produces an X-ray spectrum suitable for soft tissue imaging.


CT Rotating Anodes
Materials: Molybdenum-titanium alloys (Mo-3Ti) or molybdenum-graphite composites.
